Tim Swift
Tim was elected to the Council in 2003, taking a seat which had previously been Tory although the sitting councillor had then become independent.
He retained his seat in the all out elections in 2004 and was then re-elected in 2007, so his present term of office continues until 2011.
For two years, Tim was Chair of the Regeneration and Development Scrutiny Panel. He is a member of various other groups including chairing the Halifax Town Centre working party. He is a governor of Rawson J&I School at Boothtown. He is one of the Council's representatives on Calderdale Forward, and on the Halifax Town Centre working party. Tim also represents Calderdale on the West Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority (Metro).
In May 2007, Tim was elected leader of the Labour group.
Tim is the Chief Executive of a local voluntary organisation.
Megan Swift
Megan was elected as the Labour councillor for Town ward, over-turning a previous Tory majority of 400 to beat the then deputy-leader of the Tory group.
She has been Chair of the Children and Young People's Services Scrutiny Panel since 2006, and also chaired the panel from 2004-2005. She serves on a number of working parties and committees associated with schools and early years services, as well as being a member of the Halifax Town Centre working party.
Megan has been a governor of various schools, including Highbury Special School, at Rastrick, and chair of the management committee of the Pupil Referal Unit. She works as finance and administration manager for a voluntary sector organisation in Huddersfield.
Bob Metcalfe
Cllr Bob Metcalfe was elected to represent Town ward in May 2006. He had previously served as a councillor in Mixenden for more than 20 years, and has a long track record of involvement in local Government.
A former Chair of the Housing Committee and then of Pennine Housing 2000, Bob is now the Labour group whip and also the Chair of the Health and Social Care Scrutiny Panel.
Bob is also the chair of the Board of Transpennine, and a governor of Ash Green Infant and Junior school.
